Nika is the Leader of the “Coalition for Change” in Georgia. He will speak on 'Securing Georgia’s Democracy in the Trump/Putin world'.
Coalition for Change emerged as the leading political party in Georgia. Nika is also founder of the political party Ahali. A Georgian journalist, lawyer, and politician, he has long been a vocal advocate for press freedom and democratic reform in Georgia. In June 2023, Nika was released from prison after serving over a year of a 3.5-year sentence, following a presidential pardon. His imprisonment was widely condemned as politically motivated, making him the first journalist in Georgia to face imprisonment in retaliation for his work since the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) began keeping records in 1992.
Nika continues to lead Ahali and plays a vital role in shaping Georgia's political and democratic future as part of the Coalition for Change. His resilience and commitment to press freedom have made him a symbol of the struggle for democracy and human rights in Georgia.
