Join the Rt Hon. The Lord Hammond of Runnymede in conversation with CGE Chair, the Rt Hon. Sir David Lidington KCB CBE, to discuss the global economy post-Covid and where the risks and opportunities lie for the UK.

Lord Hammond was was elected to Parliament in 1997, representing the constituency of Runnymede and Weybridge. Whilst in opposition, Lord Hammond held a number of Shadow Cabinet positions until 2010 General Election, when he first entered Government as Secretary of State for Transport. In the following years under the leadership of David Cameron he served as Secretary of State for Defence from 2011 until 2014 and Foreign Secretary from 2014 until July 2016. When Theresa May become Prime Minister in 2016, Lord Hammond was appointed as Chancellor of Exchequer, a position he held until 2019.

Prior to entering politics, Lord Hammond had a business career in small and medium-sized companies in manufacturing, consultancy, property and construction, and oil and gas, both in the UK and abroad.
