Baroness Sugg has been involved with the Conservative Party for most of her career. She worked for the Conservative Group in the European Parliament and in CCHQ before spending 6 years in Downing Street as a Special Advisor to David Cameron.
She joined the House of Lords in 2016 and became a Government Whip in 2017.
She then served as Aviation Minister in the Department for Transport before becoming a Minister at the Department for International Development and subsequently the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. She was the first UK’s Special Envoy for Girls’ Education. She resigned from her position in November 2020 following the decision to cut spending on International Development from 0.7%.
